Cycling Around Hue (Tomb & Village)

Early morning bicycle ride around Hue visiting the Royal Tombs of Minh Mang and Khai Dinh. The biking trail between the tombs offers you some scenic stretches through small villages and farmland with little traffic on the way.

Stop at the royal tombs to stretch your legs and to admire the elaborate structures built centuries ago. Renowned for its architecture and picturesque forest setting, the construction of the Royal Tomb of Minh Mang began in 1840 and was completed by Emperor Minh Mang’s son in 1843. The elaborate Khai Dinh Royal Tomb showcases elements of Eastern art and Western design. Notice the tomb’s blackened concrete exterior and colourful mosaic interior.

In the afternoon, continue cycling southeast of Hue, past rice fields and duck and fish farms. In the village of Thanh Toan visit the ornately decorated Thanh Toan Covered Bridge, with its Chinese and Japanese features and rare squared timber arch speckled with ancient ceramics. Note the calligraphy inscription in ancient Vietnamese and Chinese script on this beautiful covered bridge.

At the local market, leave your bike and take a walk for an up close view of the fresh produce on offer. End the day cycling or transferring by vehicle back to your hotel.
