More about “Bach Ma”

Bach Ma, literally meaning the White Horse Mountains, is a mountain range located west of the Imperial City of Hue, forming a natural boundary between Vietnam’s narrow coastline and the hinterlands of Laos.

In the early 1930s, Bach Ma was developed into an exclusive hill retreat, attracting high-ranking residents and visitors seeking a cool mountain climate. At its peak, the resort featured the Morin Hotel, nearly 50 elegant French-style villas, the Morin Frères and Chaffanjon restaurants, as well as picturesque streams and waterfalls that provided an idyllic setting for leisurely picnics.

Following the turbulent events of the mid-20th century, the resort gradually fell into decline, and much of its original architecture was lost over time. Today, Bach Ma National Park preserves the area's remarkable natural beauty, while the remaining ruins offer a glimpse into the mountain retreat's fascinating past.
