Buddhist Blessing Ceremony

Hue is considered the stronghold of Buddhism in Vietnam, home to countless pagodas, monks, and a deep-rooted spiritual culture that shapes the city’s way of life. There are more than 30 ancient pagodas constructed over 300 years ago and hundreds of temples and pagodas built in the early 19th century.
Ba La Mat Pagoda
Ba La Mat pagoda was built in 1885 by the most venerable monk Vien Giac who was originally a mandarin at Tu Duc King’s court.
The Ritual of Blessing Ceremony
Upon arrival, you’ll be invited to present a small offering of fruits and flowers — thoughtfully prepared by your guide — to the resident monks. In return, the monks will graciously welcome you and lead you through the peaceful pagoda grounds, home to 16 monks and 6 novices. As you stroll through the ancient halls and serene courtyards, you’ll gain a deeper glimpse into their simple yet meaningful daily life.
The experience continues with a tranquil prayer ceremony for happiness and good fortune. Close your eyes, hold the candles gently, and let your heart whisper its wishes into the calm air. When the ceremony concludes, you’ll receive a small keepsake from the monks — a hand-carved statue symbolizing joy and spiritual harmony — a beautiful reminder of your time in this sacred space.
In East Asian culture, praying for love and marital harmony is a deeply rooted spiritual practice. It stems from the belief that when two people unite in marriage, they are no longer two separate individuals but one shared being — one family.
Unlike an individual, who can face and overcome challenges alone, a family’s journey is far more intricate — it requires mutual understanding, compromise, and shared strength through both joy and hardship. And because a harmonious family depends so much on balance and good fortune, seeking divine blessings for love and marriage has become an inseparable part of life for couples in Vietnam and across Asia.
