Hue City Tour - Full day

Royal boat journey along the Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda
In the morning, transfer to the local pier and embark on a traditional dragon boat. Cruise along the Perfume (Huong) River, taking time to relax and enjoy the peaceful scenery. The journey ends at Thien Mu Pagoda, one of Hue’s most iconic landmarks. Built in 1601, this seven-storied pagoda stands gracefully on a hill overlooking the river, offering a timeless view of the ancient city.
Imperial Citadel
Continue to the Imperial Citadel, the heart of the Complex of Hue Monuments, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enter through its towering main gate and admire the grand architecture and tranquil gardens. As your guide shares stories of the royal court, you’ll uncover tales of power, beauty, and intrigue from Vietnam’s imperial past.
Though the citadel suffered heavy bombing during the Vietnam War, many sections remain remarkably well-preserved, while others are being carefully restored to their former glory.
Antiques Museum & Dong Ba Market
Next, visit the Royal Antiques Museum, home to a beautiful collection of imperial treasures. Explore displays of bronze pottery, Pháp Lam enamels, court robes, headpieces, and personal belongings once owned by the emperors of the Nguyễn Dynasty.
Afterward, head to Dong Ba Market, the largest and most vibrant marketplace in Hue. Stroll among local vendors and soak in the atmosphere before enjoying lunch at a nearby restaurant.
Nguyen Dynasty Emperors’ Tombs
In the afternoon, visit the Khai Dinh Royal Tomb, an architectural masterpiece that blends Eastern art with Western influence. Admire its dark concrete façade and the colorful mosaic details that sparkle under the light.
Continue to the Tu Duc Royal Tomb, the most elegant of Hue’s imperial mausoleums, built by Emperor Tu Duc between 1864 and 1867. Wander through its quiet courtyards, lotus-filled ponds, and poetic pavilions, which reflect the emperor’s refined taste and deep love for nature and poetry.
Traditional Handicraft Villages with a Long-standing Heritage
On the way back to your hotel, make two final stops at the conical hat village and the incense stick-making village. These two families have practiced their crafts for generations, preserving Hue’s proud traditions. The incense village, with its vivid colors and gentle fragrance, is one of the most iconic and photogenic spots in the city—a living symbol of Hue’s authentic culture and enduring artistry.
