Life of Hue's Coastal Communities

Depart from Hue and head toward the picturesque Tam Giang Lagoon, where the rhythm of local life unfolds on the water. Watch fishermen cast their nets and tend to shrimp and fish farms as the sun glimmers over the tranquil surface. Cross the Thuan An Bridge to reach Ha Uc Village, home to a historic 18th-century Catholic church that still preserves its elegant original steeple—a quiet reminder of Hue’s diverse cultural past.

The “City of Ghosts” and a Historic Ancestral House

Next, explore the fascinating “City of Ghosts” in An Bang Village, an extraordinary cluster of family tombs unlike anywhere else in Vietnam. The cemetery is filled with vividly colored mausoleums built in a mix of Buddhist, Taoist, Catholic, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Western styles. Many were funded by family members living abroad, turning this humble fishing village into a dazzling sea of colors and symbolism.

Continue to the 200-year-old Pham Family Communal House, considered by Hue scholars to be the finest example of traditional architecture in the imperial city. Step inside to admire the intricately carved wooden beams and pillars, each reflecting the craftsmanship and elegance of Hue’s noble heritage.

Picnic Lunch on the Hill overlooking to Cau Hai Lagoon

Complete your exploration at the ancient Thuy Van Pagoda perched high up on a hill overlooking the Cau Hai Lagoon. Enjoy a picnic lunch before returning to Hue via the scenic countryside.
